Before You Compost It….
If you find yourself with too much food, The Nashville Food Project welcomes in-kind donations of food items that can be used as ingredients in healthy meals for those they serve. They accept fresh produce from your garden or farm, or even excess food from licensed caterers.
Your Composting Options
Composting is easy—and you can compost yourself in your own back yard or inside your home using a worm composter. Back yard compost bins are available for $50 through Metro Public Works. Attend a “Dirt on Composting” workshop at Turnip Green, in partnership with Metro Public Works, and receive a FREE back yard compost bin. Or build your own!
Compost Nashville provides residential compost pick-up service to all types of residences, including controlled access homes and apartment complexes. Twice a year they will give you complimentary compost or donate your earned compost to a locally owned and operated farm, organization or community garden
